Welcome!
EDUCATOR.
RESEARCHER. ANALYST.
SOCIOLINGUIST.
I am an educator and researcher with a Ph.D. in Education, committed to community-based literacy initiatives that center justice, equity, and healing. My work focuses on bilingual (English and French) reading and writing development, with an emphasis on culturally sustaining pedagogy and language access for marginalized communities. I currently design and lead literacy programming within a prison-to-community reentry context, supporting incarcerated individuals in building foundational and expressive literacy skills as a pathway toward reintegration, self-actualization, and community connection.
Grounded in applied linguistics, multilingual education, and grassroots research, my practice bridges scholarship with direct service, honoring the role of literacy in personal and collective transformation.

My Teaching Philosophy
-
My teaching style can best be described as integrative, harmonious and hands-on with an appropriate balance of inductive and deductive instruction styles. I believe that the most effective learning takes place when students are allowed to be in their calmest, most relaxed and comfortable state of being. Furthermore, I like for my students to be fully engaged in a vast amount of activities individually and in groups. I believe that this not only keeps students alert, but they are also able to put into practice their developing or newly learned skills. I enjoy seeing my students work cognitively. Therefore, I do not always directly give the answers or explanations to them, but allow for them to process their own thoughts and reasoning.
-
I understand that everyone has their own, unique learning styles. I try to appeal to each of my students’ needs in the best way possible. I make the effort to truly get to know my students by building authentic, respectful, and meaningful relationships with all of them equally. By seeing each student as an individual, equipped with their own learning style, personality, and story, I am able to monitor their academic progress and well-being more accurately.
-
I strongly believe that communication is a key element in promoting a more peaceful world; therefore, by teaching the acquisition of other languages, I feel that I am helping build the bridge to a society that understands each other through language and culture. I hope to provide students with the skills and intelligence that will allow them to become successful in any part of the world that they desire, while also encouraging self-confidence, cultural-awareness, respect, and equality to everyone of all languages and backgrounds. I want my students to dream as big as they can and not let anything or anyone defer their chances of making their dreams a reality.
“The power of education extends beyond the development of skills we need for economic success. It can contribute to nation-building and reconciliation.”
